Here are the Causes of Procrastination |
Procrastination comes when we think a lot about what we need to do and how difficult is, we start thinking of multiple other thinks we can do or have to do before starting the work. This causes a lot of frustration, anxiety, stress and a lot of wasted time.
You need to first identify some of your causes of procrastination so you can begin to understand how to overcome it. Procrastination can happen to anyone at any age from students to executives but you need to learn to overcome it or you will have a lot of frustration, low performance and even lack of self esteem.
Here are some common causes of procrastination:
The fear of failure is one common cause of avoiding doing a task. We think of the different problems and weakness we have and how complex the work is. As we think in our mind the complexity of the project, we start thinking of the different reasons why we cant accomplish it and the many other things that you need to do it.
Doing it in the last minute, most students and even employees let their homeworks or work for the last minute, they thing of how much time left they have, so they put the work aside until the time comes. What happens is that you end up doing very little work at the last minute or very poor job.
They dont think of the time necessary to accomplish a task successfully. Most people just think of what are the task that they have to do, but they dont plan what things they need to do and resources they need to accomplish it.
Another cause of procrastination is thinking that you have to be in the right mood at the right time. That is a real time waster, you might not feel like doing a work or you might have other personal problems that you are thinking about so you set aside your work. That is wrong you need to start your work now, no matter in what mood you are, the more involved you get into your work, the less you are going to think in other problems.
Those are some common causes, however there are many other reason why people put aside their work. Also, there are so many distractions nowadays that we can easily get sidetracked in to something that we didnt intend to do.
Just focus on accomplishing your goals, anytime you think of something else you have to do ask your self this question: is this going to help me accomplish my goal now, more quick or more effective? if not then dont get sidetracked with that thing and continue with your work, as simple as that, you just have to focus like a mad man.
